Agrupamento de Escolas Francisco Simões- Portugal

Four students from the “Agrupamento de Escolas Francisco Simões “(Daniel Ribeiro, Diego Martins, Catarina Pina and Flávia Silva accompanied by Professor Pedro Alves) will walk the Camino de Santiago from the 13th to the 18th of March, one of the symbols of diversity and European unity. It will be a unique opportunity for our young people to participate in activities that promote European Union values and debate the European Parliament elections with other young people.

These students will walk a section of the Camino de Santiago, from Sarria to Santiago, in 5 stages (+/- 115 km), with other young people (15-18 years old) from different European Union countries. During the trip, in the places they will pass, and through the media and social networks, they will show the reality that rules the European Union: diversity and unity, solidarity (as it is an inclusive path, everyone can participate, even with difficulties), human rights and democracy. In addition to the Pilgrim's Path, there will be activities to promote these values and, of course, the European elections, which will take place between the 6th and 9th of June. Among these activities, in the final phase, some MEPs and personalities from Spanish and European public life will also be present.

Participating in this activity will allow these students to discover different landscapes, share experiences using the English language with inspiring people,  try wonderful cuisine and discuss multicultural views of the History of Humanity, which unfortunately seems to have a short memory because we continue to forget the mistakes of the past with devastating wars.

This experience will certainly change your/Our lives, as confronting the differences between us all and the unknown is deeply challenging and transformative.

Wish you the best!
